SB Series Product Line

SB (Surbond) products' foundation is a solid metal core.  The facings are chemically bonded to the core with a cured adhesive that will not soften over time or temperature.  Our solid metal core is ideal for high sealability and cuts clean without the separation often experienced in chemically bonded systems. 

SB 922 is the solid core version of the graphite laminate.  This product has excellent flange conformance and sealability.  The solid core offers no leak paths when loading is minimal, while the graphite facings conform easily to flange irregularities and imperfections.  This type of product is used in EGR gaskets, manifold gaskets, and other high temperature seal points.

SB 448 is the general purpose, solid core material formulated to tackle many different sealing challenges.  With a nitrile bound non-asbestos fiber facing, its fluid resistance and sealability are excellent.  The real benefit comes from the solid metal core.  This feature provides strength and stability to the cut part, both in fabrication and installation performance.  The sturdy metal reinforcement provides the fiber material with crush and extrusion resistance to help prevent blowout.  Adhesion is outstanding with our thermal-set bonding system that does not soften or release under duress.  Common applications include pan gaskets, oil and water pumps, intake manifold gaskets, and stamped metal covers.  SB 448 cuts clean with standard gasket cutting equipment.

SB 863 is the high-density solid core laminate using a graphite blend facing.  This product has excellent sealing and conformance properties.  SB 863 can be used where higher flange load is present and crush resistance is desired.  The facing material also has higher temperature capabilities than standard fiber products, making this product a consideration for other types of gaskets beyond fluid sealing.

SB 590 is our newest grade and utilizes expanded metal technology for the core structure.  The core provides high recovery values as well as crush and extrusion resistance.  This is important when flange motion is possible and load retention is a key factor.  Using a high performance, high-density nitrile based fiber facing, this product offers great performance under high load.  SB 590 has good fluid resistance, making it an excellent choice for tough seal points such as oil and coolant applications.
